Jagan accuses TDP of driving away investments, calls state budget an eyewash

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the delayed tabling of the state budget, calling it an “eyewash” designed to distract the public. Reddy claimed that the delay was strategically timed to prevent scrutiny of the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) broken promises and to avoid questions about unfulfilled schemes.

“This budget is nothing but a mere distraction to the public,” Jagan said, adding that the TDP deliberately postponed the budget to avoid exposure of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s lies and false promises. He accused Naidu of engaging in an organised effort to manipulate public opinion through media channels, which he referred to as “Yellow Media.”

“The drama and actions of Chandrababu Naidu pale in comparison to NT Rama Rao’s career and acting,” Jagan remarked.

Jagan also cited the alleged financial strain left behind by Naidu’s administration. “Chandrababu Naidu handed over a debt of over Rs 42,183.80 crores to us after his government stepped down in 2019,” he claimed.

He accused the TDP of sabotaging investment opportunities in the state, specifically citing the case involving industrial giant Jindal Industries. Reddy claimed that the false allegations in the Kadambari Jethwani case and the subsequent investigation by the Andhra Pradesh Police led to Jindal’s decision to pull back its investments from the state.

Jagan questioned the motivations behind the investigation, alleging that the complaints were false and politically motivated. “What are they trying to achieve by registering false cases and hoisting these complaints? Who are they taking the name of? The state government has fostered these cases on whose behest? From someone who is a habitual offender, a person who has blackmailed several others and has cases pending in multiple courts,” Jagan said.

“Rather than rolling out a red carpet for industries, you’re driving away those who have already laid the foundation. Your attitude is pushing them to turn back,” he said.
